Helping with homework

We're studying a worksheet covered in two- and three-digit numbers. We've been instructed to circle all of the even numbers. The Kid knows his even one-digit numbers, but doesn't quite know how to apply the concept to multi-digits. I wait to see if he can figure it out. He starts circling any number containing a 2. Twenty-one is just as even as 42. He looks at me, eyebrows raised, waiting for a nod or a shake. I shake my head.

"How am I supposed to know if it's odd or even?"

"What does a number have to end with in order to be even?"

"Two. Four. Six. Eight?"

"Or?"

"..."

"..."

"Ten?"

"Close. What does ten end with?"

"N!"
